Peas stopped growing

Hi Folks,
Can't stop on line, but wondered if anyone could shed light on a pea probelm. I put in seeds approx 4 weeks ago and everything was going fine for the first two weeks. Since then nothing, on more growth or new shoots. It appears that the other two lottie owners next to mine had the same prob last year and it's happening again. Any ideas? Julia:

Could this just be due to the change in weather? The cold nights have slowed a few things down.
Im sure some other competent pea growers will be along soon.
this is my first year with peas.

I'd give them a chance. 2 weeks is nothing in the cosmic scheme of things!

Its my first year with peas too, and I am having the same problem. It definitely has got a bit colder here in London, even when its sunny.

The difference in temperature has been huge. The greenhouse ( unheated) has fluctuated between 5 and 26 degrees. Suprised that the seedlings have survived.

Sounds as if they have been checked with cold Julia. This can happen to any plant. A cold snap "checks" them, and they do nothing for several weeks. It's one of the dangers of planting early. With luck, when the weather picks up they will just grow on as normal.

I have three different varieties flowering at home now. Peas don't mind a bit of cool...especially earlies. What variety are they?

Pea weavil are a real problem this year, have you noticed any notched leaves? I was unaware but in GYO Mick Lavelle was saying that while the adults are eating the top the larvae are munching roots! Still have not seen a non chemical remedy i reckon will make any difference.

Nicotine spray is unpleasant and very poisonous (can you tell i'm reformed smoker!!!) which is why you can't buy it anymore and are making your own.

Thanks for the advise folks. These have been planted outside, and the same happened last year. I'll pass on the info to the other lotties, thanks again I knew I could rely on you.

I've got some peas in large tubs and they are being really slow - they are semi-leafless variety (Markana) and although they are producing plenty of tendrils, they're not growing upwards very much.

The remedy? I'm just keeping my fingers' crossed!

Mine (also markana) are not growing huge - but they're growing. I grew them last year and they didn't grow particularly tall but we had some lovely grub off them!

Thanks for the help guys, I'll just keep my finger crossed a bit longer, not that any peas which are produced will see the pan, I'm a plot muncher I'm afraid!
