I prefer the taste of the sour, nasty, big and hairy brussels sprouts and find the newer "sweeter" varieties boring in terms of taste. Could someone advise me what variety I should grow to get that big hairy brussels sprout I'm used to?

    Thanks

Welcome to the vine Edzt, I've never heard of hairy sprouts but if I did, I guess I would have to give 'em a shave first............

I think the nasty sour taste was down to the cooking rather than the variety

I always shave my sprouts like that and fry them in butter with flaked almonds and black pepper. Yum! I'm going down the garden to harvest some (Evesham Special) for lunch right now...
