kohl rabi spears

I left a kohl rabi plant in my polytunnel over the winter - didn't need the space, and it wasn't doing any harm, so I left it sitting there and chatted to it occasionally. It grew huge, and although I wouldn't fancy eating the root part now because it looks all big and tough, it's been sending out wonderful spears at every leaf node, a bit like sprouting broccoli. They're delicious! I didn't realise it would do this - I might even grow some more this year specifically for the spears rather than the other bits! Unless someone's going to tell me the flowering parts are toxic of course...

I was eating mizuna flower buds yesterday. They're yummy
