Chillies, Peppers & Tomatoes

When can these go into an unheated greenhouse??

I dont want to kill the or do them any damage!

Chillies and Pepper about end May as they are not frost hardy atall, Tomatoes you might get away with start May depending on how harsh the frosts are. Looking at your location looks as if i would say mid may for the Tomatoes and end of may / start of June for Peppers and Chillies

Put a max/min thermometer in there, and don't contemplate it until it's holding to about 5c overnight. And then keep fleece handy and an eye on the weather forecast

Interestingly enough - every other year mine have gone in around late Feb* but I haven't even considered it this year.

I've never had mine in there until about mid April (too lazy to keep running out with fleece which I'd be doing about every other night most years and every night this) but goodness only knows this year, think it might get very congested in the house before then.

My plants are going out in the tunnel during the day and back in the house at night. It's a performance but even under fleece it's well below freezing at night.

Funnily enough, I was thinking about Zazz and how early she got her plants out earlier on today. As you aren't even thinking about it, Zazz, I feel much better.

If i put them in y unheated greenhouse i put them inside one of those cheap little plastic ones so its like double protection and they always seem to do fine. Peppers and chillies are a little more finicky so i wouldn't put them in the greenhouse for a couple of weeks, hopefully its a little warmer by then

No - they are firmly on the dining room table - hence having to put the spuds in yesterday under a thick blankie of fleece and enviromesh. I needed the space indoors.

I have sown some courgettes 2 weeks ago - they are up and potted into their own pots now - and they are now in the greenhouse under the aforementioned cloches and if they survive until Mid April then I might move some toms in there.

My tomatoes, peppers and chillis are struggling in a HEATED greenhouse this year. The temp isn't dropping below 6 deg and they are in plastic propagators in a blowaway inside the greenhouse so are triple protected.

Having said that, I was concerned about their light levels so I have moved their location in the greenhouse this afternoon, meaning they are not in the blowaway any more. But they are still inside plastic lidded propagators.

No. It's a temperature tester. Not for consumption unless we get really good weather all of a sudden.

Sorry, not in a stalkerish sort of way! It's just that I remembered last year when you had plants out in an unheated greenhouse, with a broken window but under lots of fleece and was wondering what satge you were at now. It is only my second year growing toms/chillies/peppers etc and last year I made all sorts of mistakes so this year Im trying to use the info I've picked up here as well as my own experience.

For what it's worth I've got BNS, pumpkin and courgette seedlings on the out during the day in at night run.

the figure usually quoted for chillis is a steady 10c or higher

Same here. Tricky isn't it.
