    The taste depends on the variety, having being bred for generations for flowers, your average dahlia will have lost a lot of the qualities they were originally selected for, if you get a variety that is designed for it's tubers, the flavour is so much better

      I've germinated a pack of JW dahlias for flowers and yams. I'll give them a try. Germination rates high despite previous poor success with JW seeds. Still very small seeds just poking their heads, but they were up inside a week and look pretty substantial leaves. Will watch this thread with interest.
