  • what is the most unusual thing that you have grown

hi just wondered what is the most unusual plant you have grown, i was looking on Home - James Wong | Official Site website and was really interested in some of the things that he has grown and what we can grow.

I find everything that I grow unusual, in the sense that I manage not to kill it while its a seedling.

White beetroot is probably the most unusual for me as it really messes with your mind.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

White radish... long roots so they looked a bit like carrots but the leaves were confusing! I put them in the local show as 'any other vegetable' but even the judge was fooled

I like to grow things that are a bit different so its hard to choose the most unusual thing.
One thing I do is grow day lilies (hemerocallis) as a vegetable. You can eat the young leaves like lettuce, flowers and the tubers. It can't be long before James Wong gives them a fancy name and sells them for a fortune - remember you heard it here first

walking onions last year, think there called tree onions to. Mine didnt even get out of bed let alone walk. we're trying again this year, James Wong is pulling me in with cape gooseberrys and cucamelons or whatever there called.
Suttons just need a few clicks and there on there way but Callaloo Seeds are amaranthus so would any amaranthus be ok? Suttons are selling Callaloo james wong style for 1.65 for 38 seeds or Amaranthus thiller looks similar 450 seeds 1.65. This is just wong to me (get it) they are different varities but even so.

There's amaranth that's been selected for leaf production and different selections for seed production. If you're after the latter, you're welcome to send me a SAE.

Butternut squash, not that unusual but for someone who hadn't grown anything until three years ago not to bad
