The spuds are finally in!

This is definitely the latest I've ever put them in. We've had pretty severe frosts up until about two days ago, so as soon as it was mild-ish (yesterday) I put them in and mulched up with used straw, courtesy of my exmoor ponies!

Am I the latest, or are some of you still holding out?

I only just got mine in yesterday (2nds Kestrel) and I have Mains chitting.

I had planned to put my Arran pilot in this afternoon but its been raining heavy since mid morning.

I have Anya and Maris Piper in, both into the ground and also in buckets, they went in about three weeks ago but neither variety has started to show as yet.

I have four other varieties still chitting at home - Salad Blue, Bambino, Constantinople and Pentland Javelin.

I will hopefully be planting these out on Sunday, as long as the weather holds.

My maincrop won't be going in until next root week - about a fortnight. They are chitting happily in a dull window and I don't think my soil will be anywhere near warm enough yet. The earlies are in the PT and shooting quite well.

My first earlies went in yesterday, and I was going to do the rest today but it's been damp and cold.

Charlottes went in Sunday...thats all i'm growing this year, did do Firsts and Mains last year but decided to scale back a bit

Just come back from planting a row of Lady Christl. Planning to get Juliette and Desiree in before it's back to work on Monday. (Which as I predicted is forecast to be a lovely day, typical!)

Swifts in yesterday; only lack of time and excess of idleness have prevented me doing the same with the Kestrel and Pink Fir, which will happen at the weekend if the weather stays dry enough to get outside.

I put my last 4 earlies in yesterday, and still have about 25 maincrops to plant in the bins we finally managed to get hold of today.. so you're not the last, no!

Planted mine today. It was bitter out there but we're supposedly getting a warmer weekend so I'm taking the chance as I'm away. Fingers crossed and all that.

Mine have barely got any 'chits' on them at all - should i get them in the ground anyway, or wait for another week or two? When's the next good 'moontime' to plant spuds?

Got 20 Rocket in 3 weeks ago and 60 Desiree in the ground last weekend and 60 Sarpo to go in this weekend approx 30 for allotment and 30 for bags at home. I have to say its definitely the latest I have put them in as a main planting although I have sown some old potatoes from the back of a cupboard in June and got a respectable amount from them before the blight hit.

I uncovered a first early Monday by accident when I was edging and got careless I found it had some wispy roots on it so they are just starting to wake up it seems.

Jim on Beachgrove says soil is not yet warm enough up here so might wait another week, specially as we have a local Hol next Monday so there's an extra day to get it done.

Just bought 8 Maris Piper seed potatoes, two packs of fleece and 5 module trays all for the bargain price of £4 in Poundland! Might put the fleece down on my potato bed and leave it till next weekend....
