Does any one have any ideas how to clean green algae off enviromesh? I have tried the washing machine and even soaking in bleach solution and scrubbing by hand. All to no avail.

I've always thought that enviromesh is an ugly addition to the plot?
I've toyed with painting a flowered mural on the sides of it when its draped over my carrot bed!My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

I don't have a problem with the look of it at all, much tidier than the rag-tag arrangement of net curtain used by one of the other plot holders on our site but that doesn't really bother me either if it works for them . I've had several sheets of it for several years now and it's pretty indestructible so whilst it might be expensive (well it is ) to buy in the first place it'll pay me back several times over by protecting my brassicas and carrots.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

It doesn't look very nice and reduces light levels but you can ignore it if it's not too bad.

Each to his own - I think environmesh offers great protection and looks quite good - better than debris netting - I have had no problem with algae and it has been in situ since last June.Attached FilesLast edited by Sheneval; 27-04-2013, 08:22 PM.Endeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

More likely the position of your plot and or the weather - this plot is in full sun and, despite the low temps, we have had a lot of sun and very little rain this last 4-5 monthsEndeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary

I agree but we have our own little micro climate here protected by Arran to the West from whence most of the wet weather comes - add to that the allotment being protected on all sides from the wind/s by trees and bushes and, when the sun shines as it has been doing since last November when I got my plot, it has been a very pleasant winter/spring here
I would add that I used to do a lot of winter hill walking in snowy conditions so my views on the current weather conditions are possibly more relaxed than those of others on the plot but my nose is still burnt from working in the sun over this last weekLast edited by Sheneval; 28-04-2013, 08:09 PM.Endeavour to have lived, so that when you die, even the undertaker will be sorry - Puddinghead Wilson's Diary
