Afternoon all! Just wondering what is the shallowest container I could grow mixed salad leaves in? Would a seed tray be too shallow?

On the LH side of the photo you can see stir fry leaves and land cress growing in a lined (hanging) mushroom box. These work really well for me and I rotate them round replacing about 1cm of top compost on each resowing. I find if you use too shallow a container then the roots tend to lift while youa re cutting.Attached Files"A life lived in fear is a life half lived."
PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!

Love your use of "blowaways" SG. What a brilliant idea - to line them all up in a row
Back to CACA salad leaves - I grow mine all year round in the GH bed - about 3 inches deep but with plenty of room to spread their roots. I also have some in containers but they are all deeper than a seed tray. I think that's a bit too shallow.
