hows everyones chilli plants?

I've picked the last of my Scotch bonnets this morning from the plants I bought indoors earlier.

Just filled two tray of the dehydrator with the latest lot of chilli's. There are still more to come but I'm running out of light and heat. I don't have anywhere to over winter them.

This is one of my new jobs. Have dug up chillis and pepper plants this morning and potted them up ready to bring in tomorrow. Quite excited actually as these plants were brilliant this year, if a little slow to get going. I want to keep them as I'm fond of them and don't want to start again next year with new ones - I'm weird I know, but I can't help it! Do you all chop yours down or keep them as they are?

I chop mine down to 8-12" put them in a 6" dia pot wrap the pot in bubble wrap and keep them on a heat mat when it gets really cold

Which varieties? I've never kept mine that warm. With little daylight hours and bottom heat I would have thought they would put on leggy growth.

My chili plants grew and cropped well this year. The plants have been stripped of chilies, tidied up, re-potted and are under the shelter of our naya for the winter. The thing is that they are now flowering again! Let's see what happens shall we?

Hmmm... I have just had a conversation with Mr Basil involving the sentence 'yes, but chilli plants are so much nicer than curtains', as my chillies have been brought in and have taken over a substantial part of real estate in the bedroom....

Finished potting up the last of my chilli plants yesterday, but both my chilli and peper plants still flowering and producing fruit at the moment, so waiting a bit longer before giving them their winter haircut

My overwintered chillis seem to be doing well apart from my Basket of Fire it seems to be on it's last legs. It's a bad situation to be in as it will make me plant and ridiculous amount of chilli seeds next year, like I do every year!

Last year the survivors were a cayenne, a chocolate sweet pepper and a habenero, this year I'm trying the same cayenne, bhut jolokia, Carolina reaper, fatali and a chocolate Hab

Mine have all got flower buds on again! What are they doing?, is this normal? Silly things don't realise they are supposed to be asleep!

I've brought three Pyramid Rainbow chillies inside to try overwintering - cut off all the remaining chillies and pruned back. I have not yet re-potted them. They are now showing some new growth and I'm not sure if this is a god thing or not? Should I repot in fresh compost? Move to a cooler spot? More light/less light?



I'd love to keep them alive as I didn't save any seed this year!

Low, consistant temperature is key. Don't repot until March / April; new, enriched compost will further stimulate growth at a time when the plant should be dormant.
Water very lightly, but maintain a well lit spot.

My big bushes still have a few green leaves at the bottom in tunnel, the cold snap over xmas did a lot of damage as i was away and couldnt light the heater. Hope they pull through but not looking good
