hows everyones chilli plants?

My Hungarian Hotwax is doing pretty good at the moment but my Scotch Bonnet is terrible right now.
In fact, i think there is something wrong but can't be sure.

The Scotch Bonnet looks like it needs a feed but the thing is, it was only fed about a week ago and there has been no change to its depth of colour and no real signs of growth.
Also, the browning on the leaves seem similar to some of my fruit bushes and i believe that it was caused through over fertilisation.
All i know is, i'm stumped.

That being said though, i have some Jalapeño plants growing and they're doing fine.
They are a few weeks behind the pair above but overall, i reckon a few small fruits will be coming my way in another couple of months.

I lost all my superhots and they all looked like your scotch bonnet I removed plant and washed its roots potted up in fresh compost then watered in with Epsom salts saved 2 scotch bonnets but lost my naga, 2 s/b, Bulgarian carrot and a bought fatalii

I'll have to give that a try.

It's mad that my Scotch Bonnet seems to be suffering like it is when it's in the same soil, mixed with the same improver's and aeration mix.

I get the feeling it has something to do with the John Innes soil i used to pot up with as i have other plants showing adverse signs.

You really don't need to add anything to bought compost.

No, nothing at all.

hmmm, well I have no idea what would cause this.

Stress of some sort I would imagine...

I have lost a few plants for one reason or another. I have grown all my plants under the same conditions, so it often confuses me how some plants are fine, but others simply die or become unwell....

Natures way I guess...

The leaves curl upward for stress this is showing a lot of tell tail signs for over fertilising! This happens when the fertiliser burns the roots resulting in it looking like leaf damage but in fact the problem lays under the soil!

But whatever happens fresh compost and a dose of Epsom salts can only help

I've re-potted it now so I'll keep monitoring it over the next few days to gauge the effects.

Washed the roots befire hand potted it using the peat free compost I purchased a couple of weeks back.
I don't have any epsom salts just yet but will pick some up from somewhere.
Not sure where as I've never seen them in B&Q and the nearest garden centre is miles away.

If you keep tinkering with it Chomerley you will kill it. For goodness sake let the poor plant settle into it's new compost (and keep it shady for a couple of days so it can recover from it's root washing).

I agree that tinkering with chillies do harm but the chilli plant in question is in a pretty poor state anyway if left it would probably die anyway

Were the roots healthy and white or did they looks like brown hairs?

Chomerly I buy mine from the local chemist, but they did try to sell me something else thinking I wanted it for constipation.
