hows everyones chilli plants?

hi everyone i'm new too growing chilli's my bhut jolokia has chilli's on but none of the others have as yet loads of flowers though here's hoping

What other varieties are you growing? Still time to get flowers and fruit!

First post - hello everyone. A lot of the super-hot varieties being grown around here!
Not for me though, ever the traditionalist. I've grown five cayenne plants, in 7" pots, in my polytunnel. One rotted out at the base, but the remaining four have given me a lot of fruit.

Already dried two baking trays worth: some of which have gone to make a harissa paste.

Some chilli jelly.

Thai Sweet Chilli Sauce. (my favourite for lazy cooking. Just toss with noodles or rice for a snack or side dish.)

Will freeze some.

Then, like everyone else, I run out of ideas.... which is a shame because there are about the half the fruits still on the plant.
Will definitely grow cayennes again, superb flavour and much better cropping than the exotic S.American varieties I've tried - which probably need a heated polytunnel and longer season.

Apache progress

Here are some pics of my plants progress. The Apache to the left has about 50 green fruits and the one to its right has about 25 so far. I've tried some really hot chillis like the ghost chilli and the trinidad scorpian which you can see on my youtube page Christian Iaconis, so when trying my first green apache I didn't expect it to be that hot compared to the others I have tried.......how wrong was I!!! My lips burnt and I had to drink milk and ice cream, RESULT! Also I cut my Fuego F1 shorter as it was getting very tall so thought I'd experiment, just starting to grow its first fruit lol

Things are starting to move ahead white hab is fruiting apache are going mental cayenne are awesome my black pearl and pyramid are catching up all in all im happy and harvesting

Cayenne....Loads of red fruit.. very prolific
Satan's Kiss- slowest of all to flower but getting there now with lots of fruit, but still green
Habanero- Doing well with lots of fruit and many now red
Jalapeño- Beautiful looking fruits though haven't tried them yet
Anaheim- Quickest to ripen and very reliable cropper

This is my best year yet for a lot of veg, including chillis

Cayenne are the only ones I grew this year and they have been producing ripe peppers for weeks now, couldn't be happier as I was about to give up trying.

Hi. Some of you may have picked up im very new to this. Can someone please tell me what type of chillies/peppers I have. Bought these cheap established plants from local garden Centre and no Labels on them.

The one plant has very small what look like chillies to us. Some are red loads and loads of green ones. Some of the half red ones also look a purple colour. Does thus mean they are over ripe or still need time to ripen.

The other plant has much larger peppers and some are green and orange.

Curiosity got the better of us. We just tried took two of the smaller ones off the plant and ate them whole and wwjhooaaa they are fiery hot!!!! Absolutely lush!! Spice direct from my garden! Loving it already!!

Wasn't very hopeful of my cayenne chilli's i planted due to them being late and they seems to grow up and up and up and not fill out with foliage.

Anyway being that they are flowering and some of them are very heavy with fruit i wanted to know when is it the time to pick cayenne chilli peppers? whenever? size? preference?

Also how do you go by storing seeds for planting next year season.

Once they are formed fully, you can use them green if you want... Or wait for them to go red.. Up to you really... I saved seed last year by putting them on kitchen paper and drying them in a warm room... Sowed then this year and all germinated...

My jalapeno plant is being a little weird loads of peppers and flowers, but they don't seem to be bulking up. The largest one, which has been on the plant for about 4 weeks is barely 1" long.
The other jalapeno plant only has 4 peppers, but they are all triple the size.
I tried giving the one more feed and added a drip tray in case it was lack of water, but it just keeps setting flower buds.

I'm going to save seeds from my scotch bonnet, Krakatoa and jalapeño chillis this year ready for next year - also would you use bell pepper seeds in exactly the same way, we get through loads of peppers so would like to grow those
