I've signed! and also the German petition, here
Freiheit für die Vielfalt! | Global 2000 Action Center

The name of the petition is:
Gefahr für Saatgut durch neue Gesetze (threat to seed by new laws)
It's easy to fill in the boxes:

          - Christian name
          - Surname
          - Email address

then click the small box to say you accept data protection conditions

then click the blue bar 'Jetzt unterstuetzen!' ( support this cause now! )

            Signed and shared and signed.

This kind of thing infuriates me on another level, too - I'm pro Europe but this will make waverers anti, reasonably enough.

All Veg Growers - EU trying to ban heritage seeds!

Has anyone come across this on the RealSeeds website?

One of the major impacts of this will be on seed circles and seed varieties in guardianship.

There is a very small window to contact our EU Commissioners and ask them to oppose the proposals when they are put before them on 6th May.

                Will you respond?

The UK's Commissioner is Catherine Ashton. Full details of how to contact Commissioners and more information about the proposals are on the Real Seeds website.

(Sorry, have been lurking on this site for a bit, but also a member on others that have flagged this up. I couldn't find the topic on here, so likewise apologies to Mods if it's in the wrong place!)

That's not really the point Dave. The main point is that a lot of the smaller seed companies could be put out of business leaving us with no option but to buy seed from the large conglomerates owned by the likes of Monsanto.

I emailed yesterday the British, (VP), Luxembourg, (VP), Slovenian (Environment), Romanian (Agriculture and rural development), and Swedish (Home Affairs) commissioners. Why stick at one?

Another stupid law to be imposed by the EU. why we can't say no to any of them I don't know :/ means a lot of tradition will be lost if they are stupid to pass the law.
