  • I received an encouraging email today from the global2000 initiative in Austria (who, as you may remember, organised one of the petitions that were mentioned here earlier): "Ein Vier-Parteien-Antrag (eingebracht von SPÖ, ÖVP, den Grünen und dem BZÖ) zur EU-Saatgutverordnung wurde von den Abgeordneten des Unterausschusses einstimmig angenommen. ...Die Zustimmung zu dem Antrag hat sehr weitreichende Konsequenzen. Sie bindet den Minister, diese Position auch in Brüssel zu vertreten."
For those who don't read German: Minister Berlakovich is now bound to represent the four parties' position for the preservation of seed diversity when the matter is discussed in Brussels.

The initiative thinks that the huge support their petition got helped enormously in that decision.

Now there is another petition in Germany that will hopefully have a similar effect :-)
Here is the link (apologies if it has been mentioned before but I think it's fairly new)

    https://www.openpetition.de/petition...tgut-industrie

If you would like to sign this one as well, just click on "Sprache auswählen" in the upper right corner and choose "English", which will activate Google translate for you (with all the well-known side effects on the original text of the petition, but never mind - at least it will help you fill in the fields and tick or untick the right boxes)

    Thank you,
