Bug Identification (photo included)

Hi,
I raked over my raised beds today and found the three little things in the attached photo.

Anyone know what these are? I only found one of the big red things shown in the photo, although there were a few of the smaller red things lurking about.



I was amazed at the number of worms in the bed , but unfortunately there were quite few leatherjackets which is not surprising as the lawn is full of them. I am using the "grow your own" nematode mix for the beds and the lawn this week which should clear them off - fingers crossed.

The grey one looks like a leatherjacket larvae and the small red one a fly chrysalis of some sort to me. No idea on the big red in sorry

The big red one is a moth pupa, probably one of the Noctuidae.

Thank you for your replies... yes cochafer looks right, and fly crysalis too.

I initially thought this until I saw the little brown head and it's not as grey as a leatherjacket - the skin has deeper folds too ....

No, leatherjackets are straighter.

I think it's a cutworm

Thanks Two Sheds.... the wormy thing definately looks like a cutworm - thanks for id'ing.

The Nemasys grow your own nematode that I'll be using this week treats for cutworm too (as well as Leatherjackets) so hope this year won't be too bad for pests!
