I'm just jealous u have an 'empty' polytunnel at all...mine was delivered weeks ago and so far other half has dug 4 12 inch squares. I'm trying to be patient, but seedlings piling up and I ask, how hard can it be to build? Think he's hoping like the decorating, if he avoids for long enough, I'll get on and do it myself. He hates DiY HA

Booooo. Its still chilly in Norwich; this time last year my toms were in flower and nearly fully hardened off. This year is a disaster - I am having to harden stuff off anyway as there is no room indoors anymore and they have to go outside soon!!!

I haven't even started hardening off my Heinz tomatoes yet, they are still standing in the kitchen, looking out through the window and shivering. Like me.

All of the plants that had been hardening off on the patio table were tucked up inside the three-tier cold frame last night, where they will have to stay until it warms up. Maybe they can come out again tomorrow if this wind dies down a bit.

My toms are all fighting to get out of the gh along with all the cucurbits and beans. Chillies, peppers and aubs are still taking over the conservatory . Anything else that not vaguely tender is being hardened off.........

I've brought in all my tomatoes and courgette from the greenhouse tonight. Cucumber plants are still in the heated propagator in the greenhouse, but I've put some bubblewrap on top of them inside as well. Pumpkins and runner beans are fleeced inside the blowaway inside the greenhouse.

I just don't want to take any chances. I've already had enough greenhouse disasters this year and the forecast still says it will drop to -3 tonight.

                          Ridiculous, isn't it?

The long-range forecast I saw was for another cool wet summer

So now we don't have summers at all. We just have winter, then the rainy season.

Well it went down to 2 deg in my greenhouse so I'm guessing it was probably freezing outside as, although it's unheated, it is still bubblewrapped inside. Luckily my greenhouse gets sun quite early so it's already climbing steadily in there. It looks like a bit milder tonight so I will keep everything in the greenhouse but still fleece over and give extra protection to everything.

I must get a min/max thermometer for my polytunnel at the allotment.

I'm an optimist. BBC Weather is showing a nighttime minimum of 7 degrees at worst for the next week, so I'm going to assume the frosts are now over down here. Everything is out of the frame and kitchen enjoying the morning sunshine, while me and Mrs H are off out to Wisley to see whether any rhododendrons are still flowering.

                                Ahh, Spring!
