  • I've got 3 peas!!!

Doing a bit of weeding today and, lo! I have 3 pea pods!! I think they are sugar snap, dwarf variety. Should have paid more attention when I planted them out 3 weeks ago. I got the seeds from Lidl. Is it normal to have peas so soon? I also noticed that my gooseberry bushes are covered in gooseberries! What on earth is going on? I have a great tub of salad leaves too, but these are from the poly, so they don't really count. But everything else in the garden is just a shoot or a sprout in the soil, and my peas have gone mad!!
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...

I went down the allotment today and I think the pigeons have had mine even through the mess covering them, so well done you.

I've got a few in the polytunnel that were planted last autumn, but the ones outside are mainly just small shoots! I do have a few in flower outside though, so got my fingers crossed they'll survive the very un-springlike weather. My goosegogs on the other hand are just flowering - can't believe you've already got fruit on your's! Maybe I should have stayed in Leeds!

Well done ancee, my first batch are about 18 inches tall, so they are quite a way behind you there.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

It's so weird as they are about 20cm tall if that! The gooseberries didn't even flower, or if they did I missed it and I kept going to check for some creepie that lives on them - someone on here warned about them a few weeks ago. So I've been keeping a look out. I did a double take yesterday as I only planted what looked like 3 dead twigs last November! They are covered. Maybe that part of my garden is a little micro climate of it's own as the rest of the garden is behaving as it should!

Count yourself very fortunate! My tall peas are only 18 inches up, so another 80 inches to go... My dwarf pea plants are just starting to flower, so hopefully will have a few pods in a couple of weeks. The weather up here has been terrible for months now, plants haven't had a chance to get on much. Fruiting plants are just starting to bud for flower, so some way to go before fruits appear.
