Perennial veg seed failing to germinate

Does anyone have much experience of growing perennial veg from seed? I thought I would try some this year so I have sowed several rows each of Good King Henry, mitsuba and perpetual spinach, but 3 weeks later still no signs of any seedlings. I sowed seeds of sea kale in the blowaway in pots and only 2 out of 6 came up. All very disappointing! I had set aside a whole bed for them but maybe I was a bit optimistic!

I think perpetual spinach is technically a biannual - it will set seed next year and not be much good for anything after that - though if you let it seed, you will get hundreds of free seedlings. Haven't sown mine for this year - thanks for reminding me, I think it's slipped past my list making .
I have sown globe artichokes (violetta di chioggia) this year, and most of the seeds germinated. I currently have 8 little plants in the greenhouse, which I'm hoping will supplement the green globe ones at the lottie.

I do grow perennial veggies but I start everything off indoors - its been so cold this year. I've never grown Mitsuba and know nothing about it- goes off to Goggle

My perpetual spinach came up quite quickly, within a week I think. In modules in the cold frame.

Regular spinach on the other hand has been a proper no-show.

My regular spinach took 8 days and I nearly gave up on the perpetual because that took 20 days.

One more sea kale has germinated! Things are looking up!
