Mine germinated well, grew a bit then stopped when this cold spell arrived. They all look good but for the last several days have done nothing in the way of growing.

Just found a nice yellow chilli seed that I have missed. May try next year as I suspect it is too late now.

My first attempt at growing chilli's. All are currently taking up borrowed space in my folks greenhouse.

They are all quite similar at the moment. A few individual stand out plants, but mainly all quite small and growing slowly. I have 4 hot pepper varieties and 3 sweet peppers growing in the picture. Need to look as to when to pot them on again - a few plants have a semi decent root system coming on, others their roots are just starting to poke through the bottom of the pots.

here is my best plant by a mile!

It is a fatalli, and is around 14 inches tall, and easily 10 inches wide.

All others are around half the size of this one...

        Guess I got lucky!

That is awesome. When did you sow and how?

sown 14th jan this year, along with several other fatallis in a heated propogator.

However, this is the only one that survived. The others either did not germinate, or simply looked very weak, so I made the decision to just keep this one going....

To be honest, I have never seen a chilli plant grow so fast.

I suspect it has been 80% luck and 20% skill!!!!!

I'm pleased with the chilli plants I overwintered, I finally planted them out into the greenhouse border over the weekend.

The Bishop's Crown is easily the biggest but the Jalapeno has the biggest fruit so far (one is nearly 2" long!).

The one's I didn't overwinter are doing pretty well too - one Cayenne and One Gusto Purple.

Is that a gusto purple or a purple pyramid or are they the same plant with different names as it looks just the same as my purple pyramid

That last pic is actually the cayenne. I haven't taken a pic of the Gusto Purple.

I haven't done the Gusto Purple before - I got a pack of Suttons seeds from the 50p a pack scramble at a local GC last year!

                    Here's a link to the Sutton's info:

Chilli Pepper Seed - F1 Gusto Purple - Suttons Seeds and Plants

Not sure if it's the same as the Purple Pyramid though!

I'll have to check if the Cayenne seed came from a seed swap or not... I like surprises either way!

Is it worrying that none of my chilli plants have any hint of flowers let alone pods on yet? Jalapenos are also doing best for me so far though, they're getting quite tall.

For me it's 'Heatwave' by a long way followed by 'Bird's Eye' which I think was a seed taken from a Morrisons chilli However 'Prairie Fire' is doing well, just small, but then it may be because it is a small variety. However none doing a s well as those on this post, all no more than 15cm tall and nowhere near the flowering and fruiting stages.

Still, all things come to those who wait........
