Our England is a garden, and such gardens are not made
By singing-'Oh how beautiful!" and sitting in the shade,
While better men than we go out and start their working lives
At grubbing weeds from gravel paths with broken dinner-knives. ~ Rudyard Kipling

Oh no! Hadn't thought about how hard it is to measure them when they have a curve.

It never crossed my mind to measure them vc. I came close though with a humongous worm last Saturday. I was hoeing and it shot skyward out of the ground and made me jump. Didnae know they did that!
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

I've seen some pretty big banana slugs in northern California but never had any desire to get close enough to measure them.

(Warning: read link at your own peril. I wish I hadn't. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww.)
