Fresh horse dung

I am making some no dig raised beds using cardboard as a weed layer then building up from there. I have an unlimited supply of horse poo mixed with quite a lot of straw (organic according to the owner. If I use this fresh dung/straw mix as the main ingredient for my beds, am I going to be able to grow anything in it anytime soon and, if so, what would grow best? Thanks in advance for your advice. Wouldn't use fresh fresh horse poop. It can be too hot. If you hit the search button you will finds lots of advice on the vine about using manure.

You need to let horse or cow manure rot pretty well before you use it otherwise you will burn the plants.

You could make a hot bed. Lay about 15cm of soil on top of the manure,cover with a cloche tunnel and you can grow veg in that. The raised beds need to be quite deep to do this of course.

Thanks for the advice. Don't think I can go deep enough for the hotbed idea. Here's a piccy of the raised beds. I also have access to quite a lot of chicken poo. Reasonably well rotted. Would this be good to add instead?

I managed to find a livery with well rotted manure instead. Owner said the pile had been there for 18 years.....probably not much goodness left in it now. Filled up my raised bed. Ready for planting now.
