Sweetcorn - Incredible F1 -Spacing...

I have a small bed but with loads if manure doing well

I have a total of seven corn in at the moment, although I do have a further 10 waiting to get big enough to join in.

Germination was poor - I got 2 out of 12 and then 5 from 10. The latest batch are doing better with 10 showing from 15.

They are planted in a block with 8" spacing, in between two rows of beans and a couple of courgettes at either end of the bed.

The bed is 5" wide and just under 8" long.

Mine have come on wonders this week, now about 4ft tall and first signs of crop coming through, you can see the silky tassels on a few.

Mine have baby sweetcorn with tassels on too.

Mine were looking ready to pick last night - this morning I was too late, once again the badgers have been and decimated the bed! So cross!

Harvested two today. A bit too early. Only one looks like proper sweetcorn! In my defence the tassles were brown and there were milky kernels.

No, RL, they aren't entirely. Way too early in harvesting, the ends out of shot are 'singed' looking. Me and the make haste, repent at leisure per usual ^_^ going to wait and be patient for the others that remain.
