How far behind last year are we all ?

Looking back at photos of last year on my blog (shameless plug ), I'm sure I'm about 3 weeks behind last year veg wise.
My spuds have only just come through outside, my peas are only 6" tall and even in the polytunnel things are behind.
Mind you, it should catch up to last year because Summer can't be as bad...can it ?
Anyway Lettuce Pray for a good Summer.

Some things aren't behind at all - beans, squashes, pumpkins etc are about the same stage they would usually be about now. Other things are a couple of weeks behind usual, like carrots and spuds. What is the most behind, and the biggest pain, are things that I ought to have eaten and got out of the way by now, like the overwintered cabbages, calabrese and onions in the tunnel. The cabbages and calabrese ought to have been cropping in April, and still aren't ready now!

we have carrots and spuds about 4/5 weeks behind,peas and french beans only 3ins tall,but the slowest has been the pepper family,they have now started to put on growth but its june and some are only 2/3ins tall,the best are the marconi red peppers (19) that i picked up at the end of last season from homebase, as a kit, for 20p,they are about 6/8ins,so we will get some before summer finishes,hopefully..

I have marconi red-checks-3 inches. So I'm no better.

Nigel is flowering, as is lipstick, only just starting to get leafy and taller.

Sarz, I stick all of my brassicas outside. I wouldn't bother personally devoting the space to them, as they take up too much in a poly. I've decided that next year, the garlic is going outside too. Onions I will poly grow and some broad beans in order to steal an early march on the weather.

I reckon my lotty grown stuff and some of the seedlings are at least a month behind. I would have had beans and squashes in the ground by mid May. My broad beans I was cropping in April/May last year. Peas were cropping by now and this year are only a foot tall, but they are at least underway now. Some of my germination has been erratic to say the least this year. Sweetcorn in particular has been pathetic, compared to last year.

My peppers are a different story. They are flowering now and are about 10-12" high. They are in the poly. I would have potted them into final growing by May and that's the same this year. Last year I put toms in the greenhouse in April, this year it was May.

I'm not much use, first yr for me so I have nothing to compare to, however my Sweet peppers are around the 3 to 5 ins mark in length, peas have white flowers on them.

I recon about 4 -5 weeks behind. Hawthorn only just out and elderberry still small green buds. The only thing that isn't behind is the ********** grass and weeds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Potatoes and peas about a month behind, tomatoes in the greenhouse about 2 weeks later going in to final pots and beans, sweetcorn and squash-type things about 2 weeks later as well.

Trouble is with the early spuds and peas being late, I'm wondering if I will still have time for my follow-on crops in those beds this year

Most things seem to be behind, but then last year came to nothing in the cold and the rain, so I prefer a slow start if it means a reasonable harvest

Though I'd say the soft fruit doesn't look so bad really...

Runner beans are only just starting to come up, last year they were well up the canes by now. Still coddling squashes in pots, except for one grown from seeds from a bought squash, which is in the ground but swathed in fleece. Sweet peppers are ahead, simply because I've kept them in the house, so they have one or two good sized fruit already, but now I daren't move them in case they sulk and die!

Runner beans and French beans only just starting to go up the canes, broad beans about 5" and peas about the same, chilli's in the grow house are really slow only couple of inches growth., but the spuds are doing well! Squash are planted out and growing slowly.
