  • Morrisions sectional raised bed

Noticed our local Morrisons selling flexible plastic (like thick bag material) sectional raised beds. Has anyone tried one of these?

I already have 2 little raised beds but thought this might give me a bit of extra growing space as i could pop it ontop of the concerete.

Decided to go for it this afternoon and purchased one of the raised beds. It was marked up at £5 but scanned at £2. Went back round and brought a second!!

Ah, now I see what you mean. I did a google search yesterday but couldn't find anything on their site. How big is it?

Looking at the measurements it looks as if its working on square foot gardening

Let us know how well it holds up when filled, not sure where I'd put it but do need some more growing space this year.

Well done!! £2 is good value! I'm not sure about £5 though. Are there plenty of drainage holes in the base?

I thought it was probably working on square foot gardening too but I've yet to read the sticky on how it works.

Yes it has holes punched in the bottom.

I've been out and brought several bags of compost and I'm hoping to fill it tomorrow.

Not sure what to grow in it yet. Any suggestions? I guess salad stuff would do well.

With that depth of compost you could grow most anything. At the moment my two one metre square x 9 inch deep beds have 9 Calabrese in each bed. When these are harvested I will sweeten the compost and follow with spring cabbage.

I'd punch a few holes in the bottom for drainage .... you could drown your plants in that .... sort of reminds me of a kids playpool
