At long last

Didn't think it was going to happen but at long last the top patio is disappearing under greenery.

Thing are really looking up, well apart from the runners there still only a couple of foot high.

You can just make out the canes on the wall. Must be living in hope they are 8ft canes.

Right at the back are my Kelvedon Wonder peas, should be picking them next week.

Thats ok Potty, I was wondering what I was doing wrong, mine are not that high!!!!

Your peas are looking good, like you I should be picking some towards the end of next week, along with the first broad beans.

I like this time of year, the plants start to crowd out the weeds...

Yes its a great time of year when things actually get going. Calabrese seems strong for me this year I am putting that done to netting them, seems to help stabilise them in the meagre depth of compost I give them.

Black buckets are a pretty sight when they're full of greenery, I'd take a photo of mine but its raining just now.

All my brassicas are over the far side under the netting. I've still got some kale to go in, but it'll have another couple of weeks in the garden before being transplanted.

There's a guy on my site that won't plant his potatoes in the ground at all. He always plants in pots as he says they are much better. I've contemplated doing the same. Do you have a special homemade mix potty?

well, now Im depressed...Everything in my garden seems to have stalled at about 5ins tall! not to mention the seeds I sowed that just vanished.
Beginning to think that year 2 of fruit and veg growing is going to be a bust as well.

Home made? well sort of, Special deffo no.

All my spuds this year both in black buckets and dustbins have been planted in compost saved from previous seasons.
It was mixed with concentrated farm yard manure and a sprinkle of potato fertilizer. When greenery showed through I gave them a good dose of calcified seaweed. Then changed to tomorite when the tubers started to swell.

The dustbins in the foreground are a mix of Lady C and RDoY.

A month ago I never thought I'd see a crop of anything this year but the recent warm weather has made a huge difference. Nature has its way of catching up!

The taties are going great guns, pea pods are swelling and we've had loads of salads and even a few strawberries.

The pic shows Kestrels growing in a mix of 17l polypots and black buckets.
