  • Neopeat

I have seen on a couple of websites Neopeat which is made from coco husks advertised as an eco friendly alternative to compost. I am growing veggies in pots do you think this would be ok to use either on its own or mixed in with compost. All the blurb I have seen says it holds water well which with container growing is a real must.

    Any ideas?

It's bit of a joke in some respects Kimbo whilst it isn't Peat it can hardly be called Eco friendly as it comes from India !!! That aside, it should be OK. I've never used it myself but the people that I know that have uses Coir in the past say it isn't the same as growing in peat but once you've mastered the differences it's OK.

You can also use composted bracken but need to mix it well with compost.

It is indeed true what Andrewo says as i used it in a raised bed and had fine results only problem is its slightly more free draining than peat.

How about a mix of composted bracken put through a shredder with a mix of hops? Still free draining but the hops retain moisture. Just a thought.
