Does anyone know the best way to blanch Scarole. You are supposed to exclude light for a week to make the middle of the plant blanch. I have tried putting a large flowerpot over them but they just turn into a slug hotel and then the leaves begin to rot.

    Any ideas please?

There are instructions and pictures here, Roitelet. Basically you bunch all the leaves up and put a big elastic band round to hold them all together, and the inside leaves blanch.

eta - make sure they are quite dry before you tie them up or they may rot.
