Perpetual Spinach - so easy, reliable, versatile and crops for months and months.
Squashes - expensive in the shops, versatile, attractive and keep well for ages.
Strawberries - you can't beat the taste of a homegrown strawb.
Rhubarb - first fresh fruit of the year is always welcome, and a lot of fun to cook with.

Best thing about GYO is that the next crop is always your favourite.

Potatoes. I love potatoes. I'm looking forward to a homegrown Irish Mixed Grill!

(Boiled potatoes, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes and chips).

I enjoy anything the slugs are kind enough to allow me to sample.

I always find cucumbers a chore until I am eating it fresh off the plant and I remember the shop bought ones don't come close on flavour.

I am hopeful I can answer french beans next year
While wearing your night clothes, plant cucumbers on the 1st May before the sun comes up, and they will not be attacked by bugs.

PEAS! Can't believe nobody's said peas yet. Lovely plants, quick to grow, and soooooooo tasty straight off the vine.
            March is the new winter.

I've grown more peas than usual this year. I think it is because I got interested in heritage varieties. There's something nostalgic about a garden pea.
