    Evening,
I'm just looking for some advice on drying and storing potatoes.
    Thank you

By drying, I assume you mean just letting the skins set for storage, rather than actually making dried potato or potato flour.

If so then what I do is lift them when the forecast says there will be 2 days of dry weather, set them out on my hessian sacks then carefully load them into the sacks and store them my darkish shed. Any that I accidentally damage go into a different sack for sooner use.

Only store the maincrops, so won't be time for me to lift them until at least September, blight permitting!

Hope that helps, anything else ask away!

Also don't rub off all the soil before storing the spuds but do make sure it is dry before putting them away.

Thank you, yes, it is for drying out the skins before storing. I will pop out and hunt for some hessian sacks today!

thank you for the tip about putting damaged ones in a bag to use up first :-)

Is it not a bit early to be harvesting maincrop potatoes?

I would leave them in the ground until I need them.

Sorry, just been googling, it looks like I should lift them as I need them to retain sugar and starch! Thank goodness I didn't pull them all out :-)

No, earlies don't store because they are lifted before they've made a good skin

Last time I lifted spuds & stored them in my garage, the bladdy mice ate them. So now I leave them in the ground until I need them
