Well, they need about 4 months in the ground, and you need to miss the blight.
Work backwards from your blight period (if known). Blight usually hits us early August, which means spuds need to be (*counts 4 months back from August ...) planted beginning of April.
Earlies mature quicker of course (because they aren't mature, they're picked young)
