my cherry and fig trees nothing after 3 season... let see next year what happen.. for the rest i don't know first because last year was my proper first year of growing my veg and wasn't a nice summer and this year everything look ok ( except for fig and cherry) but i don't think for everyone my success can be a success ( example 7 strawberry per plant ans 300g of potato per plant)

Sweetcorn for me. I've managed to grow it to the point of having edible cobs just once in the last six years, other years they've either failed to grow to cropping size altogether, or, they've looked absolutely glorious but then failed to pollinate properly and the cobs have been empty. This year, the slugs/snails ate them to the ground in the space of about 12 hours I think I'm admitting defeat now.
Oh, and celery; never managed to get that bigger than a small collection of leaves, even when planted into an old bath and kept in swamp conditions. Probably give up on that too, although I adore celery and use tons of it.

Hmmm I used to have a problem with parsnips, but not this year. I seem to have a bad year with something every year. This year the celery has bolted, so I've yanked it all out and we love celery here gherkins have failed to germinate this year too.Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better...Albert Einstein

Had a 100% failure rate with my overwintered garlic - planted some in the ground and some in modules, and...nothing It was almost as if the cloves were made of plastic, as they didn't rot or anything, they just didn't grow.
Not a veg, but my other abject failure has been honeysuckle, which I planted all along the allotment fence. It promptly withered and died, so has been replaced by sweet peas (which are doing brilliantly, so I'm not too unhappy about the honeysuckle)

Carrots. Maybe one or two per row. Last year I chucked all the left-over seed onto an empty bit of ground at the end of the summer with some phacelia and this spring there were two carrots about the size of my little finger. Rubbish.Le Sarramea https://jgsgardening.blogspot.com/

kathyd,
did you try & grow spring onions from seed? try buying them when they`re already grown, you can eat two thirds of the stalk, then put the remaining part with the root on ,in soil, they grow! they`ll grow in my dark kitchen with no help at all, i`ve grown organic ones outside too, ready to eat in 2 weeks..... also see REGROWING SPRING ONIONS AT HOME - YouTube theres better youtube vids but that was best i could find at the mo!

Carrots for me too. On clay soil. It's a battle I can't win.
Sooo, a couple of months ago found a shop bought carrot in the fridge that had started to sprout. planted it out in the garden, and I shall have a flowering carrot in the flower bed instead of edible carrots in the veg bedLocation - Leicestershire - Chisit-land
Endless wonder.
