Picked mine a couple of weeks ago and it is the best i have ever grown. I always plant a lot as never do very well with it but this year it is amazing, in fact I probably have enough for all the vampires in the area

I harvested these yesterday. Of the two varieties this one is best. Still a lot in the ground yet though, I planted about 75 cloves. Can't remember the name right now

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

pulled my garlic yesterday and had a better crop than last year, but the elephant is still growing, mine too came from the isle of wight,I initially bought about 5 varieties and just keep the biggest bulbs every year for replanting, they get bigger every year

To be honest I think it's a good idea to start with good seed stock such as from IOW then use your best results to continue with for other seasons. I got half decent results from some shop garlic and I will keep the best bulb to try again in October. Moldovan or something like that. I've still not pulled my Solent Wight yet. I'm leaving that until the last minute to see if the bulbs get any bigger as the 3 I pulled last week were poor.

Mine was dug last week the ground was already rock hard.

The garlic is currently playing a merry dance between the gravel to dry and back in the shed at night!

                Germidour.

I didn't dry it well enough last year so am being extra careful.

Got a really good crop this year, comparable ot the first years bumper crop, which I think is the result fo a very good feed. I put a load of rabbit poo and straw etc on the garden and lasagne'd it, then put the garlic in there.

It's drying in my flat because if I dried it in my garden it would get attacked by oinion fly and eaten [like it has the past 2 years]

That's a two pound coin for size comparison.

Once it has dried where is the best place to keep it?

No idea sorry wayne. The local grocer shop had some really good size bulbs last year, so i bought some specifically to use for seed. I could ask....

                            Stella, anywhere cool and dry.

IIRC, they could have been Celeste, or Celestial, or some such name like that

Lifted fourteen beautiful fat bulbs yesterday. Sooo wish I'd planted more, but they were an experiment with some cloves I bought in a local greengrocer. So much better a result than when I've bought named varieties!!!
