flowering but no courgettes

Help I am trying courgette plants for the first year, and used the seeds from GYO mag, the grow no problem and have been flowering since the start of July. Why oh why have they not fuited(?)/ vegged. One of my neighbours plants is fruiting nicely.
Any and all tips welcome.

Male buds? What are male buds and what do they look like?

Male flowers are on long thin stalks, female flowers have a bulgy behind
Male flowers tend to show up before the females and you may have several males hanging around before a female arrives.
Once you see a female flower, if you wish, you can be proactive and use the male flower to pollinate it, or lie back and hope that the bees will do it for you! Either way, it takes two to courgette

Ok so I need to take a look at the flowers and then either hang around for the male flower to show up or get busy :-)

As VC says- the boys appear first.

Just wait a day or two to see if the flower stems start to thicken up. The male stems tend to grow longer between the flower and the main stem
