feeding beer to tomatoes

was down the pub today chatting to the land lord . he was saying he feeds all the slops left overs from peoples pints to his toms said they always come out really sweet , not sure if to believe the drunk or not (saying that iv been told about this before). if so has anyone here tryed/done it and what was the outcome ?

Using the slops for catching slugs, yes, and using "recycled beer" - i.e. urine - is relatively widely known about

Never heard of it Dave, but it sounds plausible - beer is good organic material. You could run a trial yourself, feeding your (unprocessed) slops to one plant and report back to us. Then we would all know for sure.

My Dad tried beer slops on his show leeks....rotted them to the ground!

The old pitmans feed was, after a night out on the drink and because you shouldn't water til the sun goes down, pee in watering can add a bottle of Guinness and top up can with water, then water plants!

Damm waste of good ale if you ask me!

Pumkins apparently like beer so why not....if you have free slops I suppose...but as Sadger points out damn waste if it drinkable.

will try it on 3 toms. prob is i really only drink ale/bitter at the pub , not sure if lagers going to be the best thing for um . il try it in a spinger /com mix
