They look great, esp for a first go. Mine went in late, I hope I have enough decent onions to braid some! No garlic for me this year. gonna get some started in October though.
Will be searching youtube later!While wearing your night clothes, plant cucumbers on the 1st May before the sun comes up, and they will not be attacked by bugs.

thanks all , i have turnips already between my rows of sweetcorn as the packet said 90cm between rows but i recently discovered this is too much, so i intercropped (oh yeh, i have gardening books too now! a present for fathers day off the kids!) with turnips, but i do love swede so i think i will give it a go;
i put nearly everything in the ground mid march'ish so the garlic was a tad small, but my onions were ok, and now my boy likes onions so thats a bonus, he hasnt liked them since birth but now at nearly 7yrs old he has seen them growing and asked to taste them and he likes them, everyones a winner, i will definately plant double next year though, carrots are only 99 cents a kilo over here so i dont think they would be "worth" growing?

It's great when the kids take an interest. My little un is a liability in the garden - but, if he knows it was grown in the garden and has seen it/been involved/helped pick it - he will give it a chance and try it.
Tomatoes and cucumbers are a given - if allowed he will decimate the lot. I think he gets that from his mother.While wearing your night clothes, plant cucumbers on the 1st May before the sun comes up, and they will not be attacked by bugs.
