Okay the peas went out today, but is it too soon for the climbing beans - french & borlotti - to be planted out from their rootrainers?

Climbing beans - planting out?

I've just finished planting mine out today - greenhouse space problems - and they were outgrowing their fibre pots, I've done them on wigwams and swathed them all in fleece - to protect them and to keep the flaming pigeons off. They seem fine, but will leave the fleece "tents" on for a while yet.
It's the end of May and fingers crossed no more frost so you should be OK

Ahh Sue, but our elderly neighbours tell of a frost we had in 3rd June that killed of their spuds! I countered with that was before global warming, but it was supposed to be 4 C here last night........oh but I'm soooo impatient, I love french beans. To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower

My beans went out today - I'm afraid that they were getting so big that they had started to twine around each other for support. I'm hoping that they survive & I'm keeping a daily watch on the weather reports! I have fleece on standby though. I must say though that I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the difference in weather reports. I'm using 3 at the moment: BBC Weather, MSN Weather & the Met Office. It's quicker to check on the internet but I cannot believe how different the forecasts can be! I've found the Met Office one to be the most accurate so far!

I sowed my runners last week and my climbing French today, tomorrow it is the turn of the dwarf french yellow and purple beans. None of these will be planted out for a fortnight yet, especially as they are still forecasting frosts at night up here.Rat

In Wiltshire (however wierd) you should be safe to plant out now - however I have seen snow in June so as they say there are no certainties. I've put my runner beans out, also peas, and the climbing and dwarf french beans will have to go out on the lottie soon as I'm running out of room in the greenhouse and coldframe (otherwise known as the garden bench with a fleece cover)

My Peas and Broad Beans were started in raised beds outside weeks ago. I started another 2 rows of peas last weekend and they're through already.
The French and Runner beans are still in the greenhouse and won't be going into the plot until after the first full moon in June when the frosts are guaranteed to be over.
Frost forecast for tonight from the midlands up. Pleased my F & R's are still under glass.http://norm-foodforthought.blogspot.com/
If it ain't broke, don't fix it and if you ain't going to eat it, don't kill it

Mine have been out for a week or so. However, they had been outside 24 hours per day for 10 days before that. I knew I could bring them into the greenhouse if there was a frost forecast but they toughened up a treat. Still got fleece in the shed though!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Last year the runner beans I planted didn't stop when they got to the top of the 8" canes. Should I be stopping the plants when they get to a sensible height to improve cropping or just let them grow on?I you'st to have a handle on the world .. but it BROKE!!

My peas and beans were put out around 3 weeks ago - with a keen eye on the weather! Touch wood they seem to be OK, a few died off so have planted some more seeds in pots so hopefully they will fill the gaps. BernieBernie aka DDL

Planted French Beans out on the allotment today. Peas are doing well, but the runner beans look a bit poorly. They are starting to climb though, so I'm hoping it's just the recent wet and windy weather that has caused problems. I hope they get over it - I love runner beans. Last year I had a blackfly problem - the plants recovered but I didn't get any beans until late summer.
