My French and Runners went in yesterday. When they hit the top of the 8' canes, I'll nip the tops off which is supposed to encourage pod production, along with regular harvesting. I also plant the odd onion under them which is supposed to keep black and green fly away. Always works for me. Anybody else have any anti-aphid wrinkles?

My climbing french beans are still inside too but are already way taller than the canes I put in. I was going to start slowly putting them outside but am very paranoid that they die off. They seem so much more delicate than other things.
Should I start with a few hours a day???
Many thanks

You can go with a whole day out, noidea, then back in at night. Keep this up for a week and then they should be ok. I take a bit longer to harden off if I'm doing it a bit earlier in the year, but at this time you should be fine. Here's to a great harvest!Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.
