No courgettes forming

Sorry where did you post the pictures? Where are you based, perhaps you could as this to your profile as it will save from keep asking and may have a bearing on your problem. Are the plants in a sunny spot?

I posted a pic of them in my "soul destroying season" post. The leaves look tatty and patchy. I visited a kitchen garden this week and they had much the same condition leaves on their courgettes but they had massive courgettes and marrows. Still no fruit bar one I picked earlier this week but its ridiculous nothing is forming when we have had he sun, insects and feeding.

Your leaves look fine to me, but you seem to have cut rather a lot of them off. Any particular reason?

Because they were getting too large and I want to encourage energy to the fruit. Again, still no courgettes forming. absolutely ridiculous considering I have 3 large plants with plenty of flowers. I have never had this before.

Perhaps let some new leaves grow and see if that helps. They are big plants and as such need their leaves to produce a big crop. Each of my plants are covering about a square metre each.

At this stage in the season I wouldn't have thought the leaves that important. Look at toms,you can cut heir leaves off to encourage faster fruit. Anyway, even with all the leaves before I cut some of them the plants were producing no fruit with plenty of insects, healthy growth, sun and feed. It doesn't make sense!

Maybe the plants are putting their energy into replacing leaves at the moment? I've not heard of taking them off, before - don't they need them for getting energy from photosynthesis?

I remove leaves from around the trusses of tomatoes to allow sunshine to reach the already formed tomatoes, encouraging ripening. Removing the leaves doesn't produce any more tomatoes.

I'm no expert Marb but I have never fed Courgettes, only made sure they had regular water. The only leaves I cut off are the ones going brown as they are of no use to the plant anymore. The green ones are left on irrespective of how big they get. At the mo, I am having to step over them as they have taken over the path. Hope there is something here that may be of help to you.

Still nothing doing. I give up as its it for this season now anyway. Never had this happen before. Again, tiny weeny yellowy fruits that get no bigger than my. Little finger.
