Have the leaves fallen over yet? I have most of mine lifted at this stage.. Couple of rows left to do...
I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....

The leaves of mine have just fallen over but I'm leaving them a bit longer yet as they're still very green.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

then, for shallots how long do you leave them on the surface? won't something eat them if I leave them lying around at night?

If you have lifted them out of the ground then take them home and put them on a rack somewhere dry and airy Newboy

Sorry for asking another seemingly stupid question but I really have looked on t'internet and can't find the answer:

Can shallots be eaten/cooked straight from the garden or do they need to be stored for a few months first?

                    any answer much appreciated

Well I'd use them straight from garden, but of course you can dry and store them also, but that's just me.
