Poll: How many Allotment plots do you have?

I've just been offered a second plot on my site and by a magical stroke of luck it is right beside my current plot, so I now have A and B. I'm feeling slightly guilty that I have two plots, but it will be put to good use! My allotment neighbour simply hasn't had the time to look after her plot and it has been overrun with weeds the whole time.

So, how many allotment plots have you got?

I'm not going to vote as I don't have a plot but I don't want one either. I guess you're looking for how many people would like one but are on a waiting list.........or I maybe wrong as usual

How much space does it actually mean?

If there's a waiting list it's wrong imo.
If there's no waiting list then work on that before existing ones have another plot. (assuming full plots..)

There are allotments in my village but they are privately owned. By that I mean each plot is owned individually. So, a lot of plots are owned by folk who no longer live in the village (a lot because it's a patch of land they have inherited as the old owners die) and have no intention of working them. They are shoulder high and more in brambles. It's a shame, but there is no water and no security on the site either, the land is open to anyone, no fence. I wouldn't invest in one, because it would be hard to sell again if I move house.

I don't have one, like VC, my garden is my allotment and I feel lucky that it's the size of an allotment.

I only have a small plot - Ashford BC call it a half plot - but as they call 5 rods a full plot nowadays you can see how small it really is! and there is no chance of getting any more space

Hi there,

I've just been given a second plot. So one half and one full plot. I am in a bit of an odd situation, as I'm sure I wouldn't normally have managed to get a second one so easily, but my first plot suffers with bad flooding. Last year it was under 2ft of water with ducks swimming on it. I wasn't told about the problem when I accepted it, and only found out when other plot holders came to warn me. When I spoke to the council about the situation, they offered me a second plot, so I can have some permanent beds and a chicken coop. I feel very lucky as I know many people really struggle to get even a little area on an allotment site. I do know that in the borough my site is located in, they do get vacancies coming up quite often. And my new plot hasn't been properly cared for or fully cultivated for a long time, to the distress of the two neighbouring plots.

I do wish that things were fairer across the UK when it comes to plots and waitings lists. But I also think that people are able to care for and cultivate more than one plot, and there are empty plots sitting around at their sites, you shouldn't feel guilty at getting more than one plot...just very lucky.

I have one full plot, some people on our site have 2 but they have been there for years when it wasn't so popular, now though there is a rule of only one plot for new members.

My plot is a 1/4 plot but that is what everyone is offered as they come up, you are allowed to have 2 plots though,

here's a shot across my two full plots, both full, made up of over 25 raised beds, Polytunnel and fruit cage. I utilise the whole area, other people's plots are mainly under used so I feel happy to keep both

I have 2 plots joined together, 1 plots worth of space taken by fruit, the 2nd one veg, I am probably utilising 3/4 of the entire space just to rubbish deposits, through the winter I shall be making good the bad areas, I also have a large kitchen garden at home and massive GH totalling around half a plot.

I have one,which was one of a group of 16 new ones, all in dreadful states, started from scratch, now doing ok. Have asked if I can have one opposite, as chap has been up once this year to spray weed killer on it, and as done nothing since, and did v little last year, leaving veggie to rot. they are trying to evict him, but so far, nothing has happened. Why does he want it?
