Never grown it before, but it's definitely doing well, lovely strong healthy foliage. Now what I want to know is - does it swell and appear above ground (a bit like beetroot) or do I have to dig for it and when?

Despite my fear of eating Baby's Heads, I bought 2 strips of celeriac seedlings that were being sold off for 20p in Homeb@se. Haven't planted them out yet

It does swell above ground, you should be seeing tennis ball size about now....to encourage it to swell more rip off the lower leaves as they split at the root that's swelling.
It like a lot of feed and water.

What's best to use as a feed, and how often? Mine are around golf/tennis ball size. Can't stand celeriace myself but his maj loves it so I grow it - or I'm trying to!

well, i suppose you could use anything now, but it's best to feed the ground with compost/manure/BFB before planting out next year
watch out for mice eating it. woodlice like nesting in amongst the tangly bits too

And make sure you have your muscles in order when pulling it...
I found that with some plants even tho there was very good foliage, the root was quite poor but then on many others there was a great big ( ugly) root...
                Celeriac chips are luverly!!
