Pumpkin - extra roots

My pumpkin seems to produce roots along its vine at the base of every leaf. I never noticed these before.
Do I need to do anything with them? It may root into the ground in those places if I let them, or maybe I can propagate pumpkin plants this way

Some of them are tendrils that help it to cling on to things, because squashes can climb, but it will root at the joints if it's on the ground. It means it gets more nutrients.
