  • Weird corn

    My plot neighbour asked me if I knew what was going on with her corn, I've no idea and thought I'd have you lot take a look.

    Yes, that is weird. I've no idea. I don't think it's pigeon damage, that's what mine have got (see below).

    Unless the corn has bolted out of its sheath for some reason and then the birds have got at it?



    Looking closer ... maybe your neighbour's is trying to escape from behind the barbed wire?

      hah i have just posted a post about weird corn and have mentioned this growth aswell, my theory is insects have taken pollen from the female to the male if this is even possible but it is the only thing i can come up with oh, and can the male flower change sex?? i know nothing so better wait til someone better comes along before you start eating them lol
      martin, i think your corn just hasnt pollinated?

        I get some every year that can't make up their mind whether they are silks or tassels so do a bit of both - I don't worry about them now, but when it first happened I was
