radar is fairly bullet proof, fine big onions that dont often bolt. I've grown them inside and out. Inside they grow huge and you can have them harvested by early June.
Troy are the ones I've used for the last couple of years to good effect. Senshyu are the original and still excellent Japanese onions but its Troy from now on for me!

I have tried lots and lots of different ones. To me, almost as though sacrilege, an onion is an onion. I have had more success with the over wintering ones. Though last winter was a bit rubbish. I will be planting october/november, i think, and through cardboard.
