  • Help, Why do my chilli pods look burnt like this?

This year is the first time I've grown chillies. They've been inside and outside depending on the weather. I don't water them perhaps as regularly as I could but they've grown into healthy looking little plants with large crop. Recently I've noticed on about four or five plants the fruits look like they've been burnt with a flame.
    • The skins are still all hard and doesn't seem like rot as the plants are all still healthy.
    • I also hear that sometimes the fruits go black before they turn red but the healthy plants they go straight from green to red with no black and as you can see it's happening on the some tiny fruits as well!

I've grown several different varieties of chilli plant. However, it is only on the generic hybrid supermarket style plants that are all the same with this problem. I've included a couple of pictures, should I be concerned?

The black to red thing doesn't seem to happen to all the fruits even on the same plant. Some of mine are doing it, but I shan't worry, cos they did it last year as well

In my experience it's perfectly normal.

normal...happens a lot to my cheyenne ones I've found, or generally long thin ones.

As everyone else has said, perfectly normal.

Amazing, thats sorted then! I wasn't sure if that was the case or if I just couldn't find the problem! Thanks for the advice, glad they'll turn out nice to pickle.

                  There is a picture here

I have one approaching the stage of the one in the foreground so it seems to be progressing normally.
