Growing Kale through Winter

I'm growing mine naked TBH I was more concerned about them being eaten by rabbits than by caterpillars or pigeons. so far. so good on the rabbit and pigeon front, but not so good with the catties.

I've got about 3 worthwhile plants left out of about 20. Got a few Chinese Kale seedlings doing well though and I feel the other plants can be rescued so all should be fine.

I've got some dwarf curly kale which seems to be growing happily, some plants got caterpillared but they seem to be leaving these alone. However they are all riddled with cabbage whitefly- how do you get rid of these?

will they grow back at all or should i just pull them?

They'll keep growing. Cut across the stalk like you would a cabbage, and put the tatty bit in the compost bin (along with any caterpillars and eggs)

I was away for a few days,while the wind took the netting off,now we have 8 tuscan skeletons as the bugs ate them,will they grow back at all or should i just pull them?

I have one Tuscan kale I couldn't fit under the netting - all summer it has been a six inch high skeleton - nothing on it but the midribs of the leaves it had when first planted out. Evidently the caterpillars have all gone now as last week it produced 3 new leaves and they are already 6" long, so yes, they'll grow back - make sure it's not slugs a-munching them though.
