  • Broken Loppers!!

Treated myself to a pair of Wilkins*n Sw*rd Loppers a few months ago. Half price at £19.99. Only used them a few times and look what happened to them

The cutting blade sheared off completely.
They have a 10 year guarantee and the label says that spare blades are available - so I assumed they would send me a replacement blade. Wrong!! Apparently there are no replacement blades and the loppers are imported as a complete unit. They are supposed to be sending me a new pair but, be warned, don't believe everything you read on the label

Sorry to disappoint not strength, but a hair line crack in the metal work, if you look you should see a crystalline effect where they cracked. Deffo a defect should be replaced free of charge not fit for purpose.

If you have your receipt you should be able to walk into Wilko's and get a on the spot replacement if they have any in.

They're not from Wilko's, Potty, but bought at the Garden Centre. Good thought though - I'll look for the receipt amongst all the other scraps of paper here.............Oh and for the record, I'm strong enough to scrape the skin off a rice pudding

My memory's failing - I bought them over a year ago - 29th August 2012 - haven't looked for the receipt yet but at least I have an idea of where to look in the pile now

                    Rice puddings beware.

Silly me I misread Wilkinson for Wilko's

All the famous names we have grown to respect have stoppped manufacturing and source their products abroad, It's hard to think of anything we make in this country now, In the 70's and 80's we allowed this to happen, pinning our future prospects on high tech products (now made in china) and financial services (We all know what happened to them).

I bought a pair of loppers, must be about four years ago, and at a Land Rover show, of all places! No idea of make, but they're very robust, and have a ratchet mechanism. This means I can cut through quite thick branches with a bit of effort. They're still working fine now (she says, tempting fate) and all for a Tenner!
