  • tomato blight?

I cant lie that I neglected my tomatoes for a week or two and I let them get dry (I knw, I know) so this is probably cause by that

but now a lot of the tomatoes are either rotting + falling off or have these blemishes..

have I lost them for good?

might be due more to the very moist end of the summer, ideal breeding conditions for blight, as we live in the windy west coast I don't shut my greenhouse doors once may is out, it seems to help as even last years misty gloom(sometimes called summer, by a comedian)we escaped it and after july I never get water on the leaves....it works for me...good luck with it..

It doesn't look like blight to me, it looks like they've been low on water and then rot of some kind (Botrytis?) has srted on the shrivelled up fruits.

The fruits and stems go black with blight.

yeah the stems went black on the last one,

a lot of the fruits are also unblemished but quite "soft" like
Assuming of course they look okay, do you think its too chancy to eat them?

also what can be done with overripe fruit?

I made chutney with all the non-manky bits from my blighted tomatoes, rather than waste them.

Some of my toms have been hit by blight, so I have picked a lot of them, but I have way too many, don't know what to do with them all, got enough to open a green grocers!!
Will see if I can give some away. maybe try and preserve some too.
But I have some beautiful big red toms, I never expect I would do as well as I have, massively surpassed my expectations, must have been the good weather.

It's kind of a relief when I see a bad one as I won't have to find space to store it!!

Just bung on the compost heap.
