Does anyone spread wood ash on the veg plot? Not sure where it's good and where it's bad. RHS say don't put it near roses but good for vegetables and compost. I think it may not be good for acid soils but we're pretty neutral here. And with loads of log ash from last winter's fires! It must be rich in potash.

Says Wood ash has a liming effect and roses like acidic soil.

It seems to have other uses like getting rid of bugs, water plants then sprinkle on. Wash off in morning. Wonder if it would get my pesky caterpillars!
