We should name a pea after Dotty:
Pea Elegance - Not sure when it should be sown though...........sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

There's a simple reason why round in the autumn and wrinkled in the spring. Its to do with fungi!
Fungi and moulds will nestle in the folds of a wrinkle seeded pea and rot it, whereas fungi have nothing to grip onto a round seeded pea.
You can probably get away with the wrinkled seed in the spring because they will germinate quicker and fungi/moukds will not have time to do their damage.
Thats what I've always believed anyway!
Probably the same reason only a few varieties of broad bean are suitable for autumn sowing also?My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
